This proposal is part of a number of changes to hit our supply target of 1b by counteracting inflation. There’s quite a few “Layer 1” identity chains: - Polkadot ecosystem (Kilt, Dock), - Hyperledger Indy ecosystem (Sovrin, Indicio, IDunion), - Polygon (Polygon ID) - Cardano ecosystem (RootsID) - Cosmos ecosystem (NYM tech, hypersign, and of course ourselves at cheqd) - Ethereum / Hyperleder Besu (Velocity Network, Verus) You also have the likes of: - Civic (looking more at KYC) - Ontology (focussing more on wallets) However, a lot of these chains just support basic DIDs and are largely trying to do similar things. Many of these companies are looking at NFTs, DAOs and following general hype trains. To our knowledge, no other chain is doing payment rails for Verifiable Credentials using a token. I won’t comment on the utility of other projects’ tokens, but I have not come across anything similar to cheqd. I wouldn’t be surprised if companies began copying our approach once payment rails are launched, for example, Cardano are already trying to follow our DID-Linked Resources approach to support AnonCreds. The closest to us in terms of payments would probably be Velocity Network who, to my knowledge, are looking at doing a bespoke payment infrastructure using on-ledger credentials - which in my opinion and having spoken to them is really bad for GDPR and privacy. Kilt also initially had the idea to do this but have since pivoted towards other focus. So ultimately, I am not aware of any serious direct competitors at the moment - other projects would likely be complimentary rather than in direct competition at the moment to cheqd. In the future, if we do see more direct competition in terms of payment rails, I also don’t see it as a bad thing. As, (a) the market is large enough; and (b) we’re confident that we can do things better than anyone else with our team’s expertise. Hope this helps ❤️

As you’ll know from our recent announcement, our new DID method driver is now live on Decentralized Identity Foundation’s (DIF) Universal Registrar. 😎 This is a big step in simplifying the developer journey for client applications to use cheqd’s DID and DID-Linked Resource utility in a more light way than integrating with our Software Development Kits (SDKs). 👍 This week, the W3C has also formally approved the DID-Linked Resource work item which will be developed as a formal standard over the next few months here! You can read more on our new blog titled, ‘Universal Registrar: DID utility off-the-shelf’, where we’ll explain the value of the registrar, DID formats and operations and how you can get started creating your DID on our network. 💪 cheq it out

We’re LIVE on the DID Universal Registrar! 🔥 Now it's much easier for app developers to create DIDs on cheqd. What does the Universal Registrar do? 🤔 It creates/updates/deactivates Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) across many different DID methods, based on the W3C DID Core 1.0 and DID Registration specifications. What did it take to create cheqd DIDs before getting into the Universal Registrar? To create DIDs (or DID-Linked Resources) you needed to use our Veramo SDK or the cheqd Cosmos Command Line Interface. This is great for companies that want to integrate cheqd into their products, but not ideal for a quick DID creation. It’s also less accessible as it require more technical expertise. 🤓 And now… The DID Universal Registrar abstracts a lot of the complexity from creating DIDs and enables anyone to fill out some basic content for a DID Document and create a DID using an API request (directly in a web browser). For anyone who wants to spin up a DID or a DID-Linked resource, this makes the process easy and relatively non-technical. 😎 Image this as… Our SDK being a flatpack IKEA product for DIDs. It’s pretty simple to put together, but you have to have instructions and the right tools (and a bit of patience 😅). The Universal Registrar is like getting them straight off the shelf, or delivered built, straight to your home. Want to know more? Stay tuned as we’ll post a blog post about this choon. 😊

Greetings, cheqmates. So for those that attended our Monthly AMA on Friday, you’ll have heard the news from Fraser and Ankur that we’ve got some changes coming to our tokenomics. We know you’ll all have a lot of questions, so we’ve been preparing a little something for you. INTRODUCING cheqd’s tokenomics for SSI explained: part 4 🎉 😎 As well as a community pool parameter increase, we are proposing to introduce two new mechanisms to the cheqd tokenomics; identity transaction pricing and burns. These measures will improve the tokenomic sustainability of the cheqd network. Identity transaction pricing and burns will augment the work we are doing on payments for self-sovereign identity/decentralised identity. Please have a good read and let us know your thoughts 😉

Making cheqd the most flexible, usable, and interoperable network is integral for achieving wider adoption, as we pave the way for the first-of-its-kind decentralised identity payment rails.
